The CBACA directors would like to hear from you

Message from the Board of Directors

Since 1976, the Cordova Bay Association for Community Affairs (CBACA) has served as the voice of our neighborhood. The association advocates on behalf of residents, property owners, and local businesses on key issues such as developments, parks, transportation and mobility.

The volunteer Board of Directors meets monthly from September to June. Meetings are open to all CBACA members. In addition to municipal advocacy, the board organizes local events, manages community grants, and keeps the neighborhood connected.

                  TERRITORIAL ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

As representatives of the Cordova Bay Association, we acknowledge the W̱SÁNEĆ and Lekwungen peoples on whose traditional territory our Cordova Bay community was built, and offer our respects to their ancestors who were living at the village of ȾEL¸IȽĆE at the time of the South Saanich Treaty of 1852.

We recognize that the 1852 South Saanich Treaty charted out a relationship with the W̱SÁNEĆ and Lekwungen peoples that we are hoping to continue to develop today and into the future.

W̱SÁNEĆ = wh-SAY-nech        Lekwungen = Le-KWUNG-gun         ȾEL¸IȽĆE = tsul-IL-CH-u

Do you know of a worthy cause in Cordova Bay?

The CBACA directors would like to hear from you about any non-profit organization in Cordova Bay you feel is deserving of a donation. Money raised at the CBACA's yearly Cordova Bay Day goes to a worthy community group. Over the past five years, we've made donations to the Haliburton Farm, the 55 Plus Association, the Cordova Bay Soccer Club, the Cordova Bay Co-op Preschool and Claremont Secondary School Fine Arts program.

If you know any other deserving cause, please e-mail: president@cbaca.ca. and complete the CBACA Grant Application form.

An opportunity to volunteer for your community

The Cordova Bay Association for Community Affairs (CBACA) has published The Cordovan newsletter for over 40 years and has been instrumental in keeping our members informed about the developments and happenings in Cordova Bay.

Please consider becoming involved in the CBACA at the board level. The CBACA is only as strong as its membership and having a diverse and enthusiastic board will ensure the needs of the members and community are heard.

If you’re interested in serving your community by being on the Board of Directors – please contact one of the board members.

Matching grants and community donations

A recent matching grant with Saanich was the beautiful Interpretive Sign for Doris Page Park. Recent community donations were to the Cordova Bay Soccer Club (Saanich Fusion) and to the Cordova Bay Pre-School Co-op.
