*POSTPONED* – CBA AGM 2020 on Wednesday, April 29th
SAVE THE DATE!
The 2020 CBA AGM will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 7:00 pm at the Cordova Bay United Church.
This year’s guest speaker will be Professor Brian Thom, Department of Anthropology, University of Victoria.
The title of his presentation is “ȾEL¸IȽĆ and Indigenous Peoples of Cordova Bay”
Brian Thom is an associate professor in the anthropology department at the University of Victoria, and since 2017 a resident of Cordova Bay (Sunnymead). As an anthropologist, he is keenly interested in the idea the ways people and communities are dynamically and powerfully connected to the places and landscapes they encounter in their lives. He has worked in Coast Salish communities on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands over the past 25 years. In 2010, Dr. Thom founded UVic’s Ethnographic Mapping Lab, a place for graduate students and faculty researchers to collaborate with Indigenous communities on projects that support Indigenous land rights, resource management, inter-generational knowledge sharing, and public education.
