The District of Saanich is accepting applications from residents interested in participating in local government by serving as a member of the Advisory Design Panel or Board of Variance. ADVISORY DESIGN PANEL:
The District of Saanich is seeking one member to serve on the Advisory Design Panel for a two-year term. The Panel advises Council or the Director of Planning on the design merits of plans supporting specific public and private development applications. This vacancy is intended to fill the position representing persons with disabilities, as outlined in the Panel’s Terms of Reference. The ideal candidate will bring an accessibility and inclusive design perspective, informed by lived experience and/or demonstrated involvement in disability advocacy and accessibility-related work. Residency in Saanich is not required.BOARD OF VARIANCE:
The District of Saanich is seeking one member to serve on the Board of Variance for a three-year term. The Board is composed of five members appointed by Council. This independent review board considers applications for variances where compliance with the Zoning Bylaw would cause undue hardship. The successful candidate must reside in Saanich and ideally have a basic understanding of building and zoning regulations, such as Saanich’s Zoning Bylaw and the BC Building Code, as well as familiarity with interpreting architectural plans and documents. The Board meets once a month electronically.HOW TO APPLY:
