Support our Cordova Bay community: Become a CBACA member!

The Cordova Bay Association for Community Affairs (CBACA) works for our community by monitoring development, promoting improvements, and informing members about happenings affecting our community.

Great Reasons to Join: How CBACA Benefits our Community

The larger our membership, the greater our voice with Saanich Council on issues that affect Cordova Bay. We have an excellent working relationship with Saanich partly due to our healthy membership which gives us influence when addressing contentious issues.

    Membership fees

Membership fees are only $10.00 per household per calendar year. Your household membership includes all adults 18 years and over residing at the same address. Please enter email addresses for all adults in the household on the membership form.

A membership fee is required by the Societies Act. The CBACA Board of Directors and committees are volunteers from our community working to making progress for the betterment of Cordova Bay. Proceeds are returned to the community in the form of grants, donations, and improvements..

    Term of membership

The calendar year of joining CBACA or renewing a membership is determined by when payment for a new membership or renewal is made:

    • If made on or before the Annual General Meeting in a calendar year (typically in April), the year of joining or renewing ends on December 31 of that same calendar year.

    • If made after the Annual General Meeting in a calendar year, the year of joining or renewing ends on December 31 of the following calendar year.

Rationale: A paid-up membership entitles a member to vote at the AGM during each year of their membership term. Members joining or renewing after the AGM in a calendar year are first eligible to vote at the AGM of the following year.

    Examples:

    1. Paid-up membership on or before the date of the AGM. A resident joins or renews their membership on February 24, 2024 and completes payment on or before the date of the April 2024 AGM. They are eligible to vote at the 2024 AGM, and their year of joining or renewing ends on December 31, 2024.

    2. Paid-up membership after the date of the AGM. A resident joins or renews their membership on September 24, 2024 and completes payment before the April 2025 AGM. They are first eligible to vote at the April 2025 AGM, and their year of joining or renewing ends on December 31, 2025.
