And Times Colonist article June 5, 2014.

The District of Saanich has sought public input about potentially introducing legalized secondary suites north of McKenzie Avenue. This includes Cordova Bay (excluding areas outside the Urban Containment Boundary) but excludes Broadmead, Blenkinsop Valley and Rural Saanich.

On April 4 Saanich posted community input for the study. Read here.

Four years ago legalization measures for secondary suites were approved by Saanich council for the area south of McKenzie Avenue. Also to be considered, north of McKenzie Avenue, is the potential legalization of secondary dwellings, e.g.converted garage or purpose-built cottage on the same lot as a house. What’s your opinion? The District of Saanich will want to know. Surveys, both online and by telephone, will be conducted in April. Saanich’s timetable is to have this matter before council in June.

This subject can be discussed at the Annual General Meeting of the Cordova Bay Association for Community Affairs on Wednesday April 23 starting at 7 p.m. at Cordova Bay Community Place/Cordova Bay 55 Plus Association on the south side of Cordova Bay Elementary School.

“Saanich explores legal secondary suites” makes interesting reading in the Victoria News April 11, 2014.
